Speaker – Euan Ross – Not Just A Single Photograph

Working in an industry and role which is extremely numeric, precise, and constantly moving and changing, photography and art offers me freedom, flexibility and the opportunity to experiment and evolve my practice.

As my work, interests and approach have changed, I find myself focussing more on curating bodies of work, moving away from producing one-off work.

I will explore and discuss the journey I have gone through, sharing work from the past decade with a focus on recent and on-going work.

Euan is a former member of our club and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him back as a presenter .

Some info from Euan’s website

“I am an amateur Scottish artist based in Glasgow in the West of Scotland.

My interest in photography stems from my love of travel but it is only in recent years that it has developed into a true passion for me.

I am very fortunate to have experienced some incredible journeys over the years with my wife and whilst photography didn’t play a huge part in planning our earlier trips, it has moved up in terms of importance.

My main interest is in the landscape we live in with a particular focus on the coast but I shoot for myself first and foremost and I photograph scenes that appeal to me.

I am always seeking ways to improve my knowledge, skills and the quality of my work. It’s a continuous journey and I strive to improve my work wherever possible, even by just the smallest of margins.

I have exhibited my work at several open exhibitions including the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Paisley Art Institute where I was awarded the James BS Curr award at their 2020 annual exhibition.

My work has also been featured in Outdoor Photographer of the Year and Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year in addition to Outdoor Photography Magazine and Digital SLR Photography”.
