Speaker Mark McColl – Landscapes and Wildlife of the Artic
From Mark’s website;
“I am a landscape photographer based in Scotland. My interest in photography stems back to my childhood, using slide film on an entirely manual Russian camera. It was big, heavy and almost indestructible. That was all my teenage budget could afford!
My background is in the medical profession, with over 30 years experience as an NHS hospital Doctor. Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a boy, and it has been a wonderful diversion, keeping me sane through my medical career. I am lucky to live in Scotland, one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and It is perhaps not surprising that many of my images have been captured within a few hours of home.
I have had a number of joint and solo exhibitions over the years, including prints at the OxO and the Mall galleries in London. My work has been published in various magazines and newspapers including The London Times, The Herald, Outdoor Photography, Amateur Photographer magazine, Landscape Photography magazine, Practical Photography, as well as appearing in various exhibition brochures and books. I have also written articles for magazines such as Outdoor Photography and Amateur Photographer, and my images have been used commercially for uses as diverse as book covers to wallpaper.
I gained a distinction award from the photographic alliance of Great Britain (DPAGB) for prints in 2009 and was a regular contributor to international photography exhibitions for many years. I have been fortunate to have won a number of international awards as well as having achieved success with images in various international salons and competitions. I now concentrate on creating personal images as well as running workshops all over the world.”
